Sixth form employability session

On Wednesday 28th June 2017 we hosted an employability session which was delivered to 40 Year 12s by IGD. This session focused on 'What are my skills and how can I sell them on paper'?. The session bought together a range of external volunteers ranging from CEO’s to the Head of Food and Farming Strategy at Defra. These volunteers spoke to our students about how to add some magic to their CV’s but also an insight into what employers look for in a cover letter and CV. The students were able to ask different questions and to gain invaluable information from the visitors to support them on their progression from Sixth Form into employment or apprenticeships.

Students found this session to be not only insightful but eye opening to consider the different approaches that they can make to decide their futures.

“Extremely useful and informative to be able to see how I can make my CV stand out.”

“The information and expertise that was there really has opened my eyes to different careers”
