Dress Code
The College has a school uniform policy which is supported by parents and, to encourage pride in personal appearance, we expect uniform to be worn smartly. It is important that all items of clothing are clearly marked with the owner's name in the event of an item being lost.
BOYS: Plain black tailored trousers, white shirt, school tie and black V-neck sweater with College logo.
GIRLS: Plain black regulation school skirt (choice of two styles) or tailored trousers; white shirt or blouse; black socks, or natural or black colour tights. Black thicker tights are permissible in winter. Please note that skirts should be of knee length and of an appropriate style. Excessively short or long skirts are not acceptable.
SUMMER: There is an option for both boys and girls to wear the white polo shirt with the College logo in the summer months instead of a white shirt or blouse.
All students are expected to wear a College sweater. These and school ties are only available from the college uniform supplier. Skirts, trousers and shirts can be purchased from the major chain stores.
Outer garments should be sensible in style with no large logos. Cardigans, padded shirts, sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, leather and denim jackets are not suitable for school wear. Scarves should be black.
Neither tee-shirts nor suntops should be worn under shirts or blouses, except in cold weather during the winter months when plain white tee-shirts may be worn under school shirts / blouses. Shoes should be either black or brown and sensible and appropriate in style. Boots, trainers, backless shoes and trainer-type footwear are not acceptable.
Hair styles should be reasonable, appropriate and neat. Any jewellery must be discreet and is worn entirely at the owner's risk. The only type of earring permitted for school wear is a small ear stud, one per ear. Nose studs are not permitted. Students may not wear make-up in school and, if needed, will be given facilities by pastoral staff for its removal.
We are determined that students should be in correct uniform and will monitor the situation closely from the beginning of term. Students wearing incorrect items of clothing will be expected to change them immediately or be isolated, and we may ask that they are collected from school and returned in correct uniform. Difficulties also arise when students wear trainers claiming injuries to their feet or ankles. Under such circumstances we will make black plimsolls available to those students, and a note from the parent must be provided.
Mobile Phones, Walkmans, etc.
Mobile Phones should not to be brought into College, and we will confiscate phones that are being used during the day. In addition we cannot accept any responsibility if they are lost, stolen or damaged. There are phones available in college in the event of emergencies or the need to contact home.
Walkmans, CD and MP3 players and mini-disc players should not be brought into College as they are often expensive items and are not suitable equipment for a learning environment.
