Parents

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

What are we?

Every parent of a child at the College and every teacher is a member of the PTA at Uplands. As the PTA, we provide that vital link between parents and the College. We also work to raise funds to help provide those “extras” which make such a difference to our children’s education.

Who are we?

Co chairs: Pernilla Rosenberg (ter@mailsnare.net) and Helen Wolkind (helenwolkind@hotmail.co.uk)

Treasurer: Chris Rostron (crostron@hotmail.co.uk)

Secretary: Position vacant! Please contact Helen or Pernilla if you are interested

Social Secretary (staff events): Bead Oliver (beadlet@hotmail.com)

Gift Aid Secretary: Deborah Woodham-Jones (woodhamjones@btinternet.com)

150 club: Nicky Maxfield (jnjnfmaxfield@gmail.com) and Debbie Farmer (debsmarkfarmer@aol.com)

Meetings

These are held in the library usually about once a month. A member of staff (and also usually Mrs Edmonds) always attends. We discuss issues of importance to the College and students and often receive requests for funding from departments for specific equipment. We always welcome new members so please come along and meet us! If you would like to receive copies of the minutes of meetings, please contact Helen Wolkind.

Voluntary Donation Scheme

This is a vital part of the PTA’s fundraising efforts. We hope that as many parents as possible will choose to join up. Please see the links below for further information and the necessary forms to complete. All documents are in pdf format.

Easy Fundraising

It really is so easy! Just register with easyfundraising (www.easyfundraising.org.uk) for free, name Uplands CC PTA as your chosen charity and gain access to all your favourite registered websites - Amazon, E-bay, M&S, Argos, John Lewis to name but a few. If you are planning a holiday companies like EuroTunnel, British Airways, Lastminute.com and many more are registered. For every purchase made on those sites through easyfundraising, a donation of up to 5% of the value of your purchase will be made to the PTA and it will cost you nothing! For more details contact Helen Wolkind.

Dates for your diary

29 February: meeting to discuss the country fair. We will meet at 8pm at the Greyhound. All welcome!

24 March: Race Night. Tickets (£10 each, to include dinner) will be on sale shortly from Student Services. Come along and bet on the horses, sponsor a race or buy a horse! The money raised will go towards funding computer equipment for the music department.

Night at the Races

14 July: Country Fair. We held this for the first time last year and, despite the truly dreadful weather, it was a huge success. If you are interested in getting involved, come along to the meeting on 29 February or contact Helen Wolkind, Pernilla Rosenberg or Paul Allen (yewbrae@aol.com)

Want to know more?

If you would like to get involved with the PTA, please contact any of the committee members or leave us a note with Student Services. We are always looking for new members or people to help out at events if you cannot commit to attending regular meetings. We look forward to seeing you!
