Governor Profiles

Karen Stevenson - Chair of Governors

Co-opted Governor, Chair of Governors
Term of Office: 01/09/13 - 31/08/17

I am a mother of four children all whom are, or have, attended Uplands. In a previous life before children, I was working in investment banking, but since then I have done a variety of volunteering roles.

I have been a governor at Uplands for ten years and have been the chair for the Student Development Committee for around five. In addition to Uplands, I am currently Chair of Governors at two separate primary schools in the Tunbridge Wells area, both who have been through a period of change and improvement and are now moving to outstanding.

I passionately believe that education should accessible for all children irrespective of their ability and background, and this is why I continue to volunteer in this rewarding role as a school governor.
