Uplands is a highly successful mixed 11-18 comprehensive (nor 839, including 119 in the Sixth Form).

OFSTED, April 2017 – We are pleased to report that following our visit from OFSTED, we have received a letter confirming that we have maintained the good quality of education at Uplands since our last inspection.  The inspectors found that the “leadership team continue to strive to provide the best possible education for each pupil” and that we “are well supported by the staff and a dedicated and well-informed governing body”.  They found parents to be “positive in their comments” and referred to one parent who said, “I am impressed by the caring and supportive nature of the staff”.

Wadhurst is situated 15 minutes south of Tunbridge Wells and 45 minutes from Eastbourne, as well as excellent mainline train links to the coast and London.
Staff have free use of a quality fitness suite.

Salary: Single Status 7 points 17 – 19 (£20,654 – £21,892) pro rata per annum

Hours: 185 clerking hours plus 10 hours training per annum

The Governing Board are looking for someone who is reliable, confident, is good with people, and has an interest in school governance.  You will need skills in good administrative practice and experience of minute taking.  You will also need to be confident in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and email and have access to a computer and the internet.  Full Governing Board meetings currently start at 6 pm with sub-committees starting at 4.30 pm; however, depending upon the correct applicants need this can be reviewed.

Responsibilities will include working effectively with the chair of governors, Principal, and other governors to secure the continuity of governing body business.  To advise on procedural and legislative matters to ensure the Governing Board works to the legal framework.  An understanding of confidentiality is essential for this role.

Tasks include the preparation and circulation of papers, attendance at meetings and minute taking; maintaining a business calendar including policy reviews.

The role will be recruited under the Clerking Service Protocol; applicants must either hold a relevant award (BTEC level 3 in Clerk to the Governing Board or equivalent) or be prepared to work towards the East Sussex Clerk to Governors Accreditation Scheme, for which funding and training will be provided.

Cleaner - Uplands’ Childcare

Job title: Cleaner
Salary:
 Single Status Grade 1, Point 2 (£16,394 per annum, pro-rata)

Contract: Permanent
Hours: 10 hours per week

We are seeking to recruit a part-time cleaner to work in our childcare facility.  The post is for two hours per day, either early morning or after 6 pm.

Examinations Invigilators

Job title: Examinations Invigilator
Salary:
 Single Status Grade 4, Point 9
Contract: Claims only
Hours: Casual

Required for internal and external public examination seasons. The duties will be:

  • To maintain security in the examination room;
  • To ensure that candidates have the correct materials, sufficient paper etc;
  • To support the welfare of candidates should any be distressed or need non-academic assistance;
  • To assist with setting up the examination room prior to the examination, and collecting and checking papers when the examination is finished.

Examinations Invigilators will be responsible for the examination room and the return of scripts to the Examinations Officer.
