Uplands Community College is a designated extended school and offers a range of services to children, young people and their families.
For college students there is a range of activities that take place during the midday break and after school. There are also a number of clubs and opportunities in PE, Dance, Drama Music and Science. Parents of students interested in learning an instrument should contact the school. Free transport home to Ticehurst, Stonegate, Burwash, Etchingham, and Hurst Green is offered to students who have stayed for activities. The minibus leaves at 5.00 pm from outside the Drama Studio.
Uplands offers support for young people and their families through our COPES Family Outreach Worker who can be contacted on 07824 900092.
The school nurse is available on a ‘drop in’ basis on Wednesday lunchtime. She uses the office off the Crush Hall.
Uplands has a team of dedicated school counsellors and students can make appointments through their tutors.
Wadhurst Youth Club is open on Thursdays from 7 to 9 pm (term time only) at Uplands Community Centre. It is a friendly youth provision open to all young people in year 7 and above. The club aims to support young people's personal and social development, offering them an opportunity to socialise in an informal and safe environment, as well as participating in the various activities on offer including craft, cooking, issue based discussions and much more. The programme of activities is designed by it members. Professional and supportive staff is always on hand to provide young people with Information and Guidance. Cost is £1 per session.
Sticky Fingers and OASTies offers a high quality nursery, after school and holiday provision to children aged 2 - 11 years at Uplands Community Centre. Uplands Sports Centre has two sports halls available for private hire, a fitness suite, changing rooms and a studio area. Membership of the centre is open to juniors and adults. ACRES an adult learning programme covering a wide range of subjects (recreational, vocational and academic) is organised by Adult College for Rural East Sussex [ACRES] throughout the year. Some are day classes at Uplands and in surrounding villages, whilst the majority are evening classes. The ACRES office is based in Uckfield and can be contacted on (01825) 761820.
